How Much Does a Professional Website Cost? A Pricing Guide

How Much Does a Professional Website Cost? A Pricing Guide

If you have searched for this question, you have probably already received very different quotes — from €40 for a Wix site to €10,000 from a big agency in Bucharest. Both can be fair, depending on what you really need.

I’m Gabriel, a freelance web developer based in Bucharest with 10+ years of experience. I have delivered dozens of projects for Romanian and Norwegian companies — from simple business websites to SaaS platforms, online stores with complex integrations and custom booking systems. In this article I explain exactly how the price of a website is calculated in 2026, so you know what you are paying for and why.

How much does a website cost? The quick answer

Website typeGuide priceDelivery time
Business website (5–10 pages)€400–1,0002–4 weeks
Online store (up to 50 products)€1,000–1,6004–6 weeks
Complex online store (500+ products)€1,600–4,0006–12 weeks
Web application / SaaS platformFrom €5,000Assessed per project
Monthly maintenance€150–300/month—

The prices above reflect the Romanian market in 2026 for an experienced freelancer, not an agency with 10 employees and office costs built into the invoice.

1. Business website — €400–1,000

Ideal for small companies, sole traders, medical practices, lawyers, architects, salons or any business that needs a professional online presence. It usually includes these pages: Home, About us, Services, Portfolio, Contact and Blog.

At GabrielDev, a professional business website starts from €400 and includes:

  • Custom design built from scratch (not a purchased template)
  • A complete mobile version (mobile-first)
  • Basic SEO optimization (meta tags, sitemap, load speed)
  • A secure, anti-spam contact form
  • SSL installation (HTTPS)
  • Training for managing the content

What pushes the price up:

  • Design with animations and advanced interactions
  • A large number of pages (15+)
  • A multilingual setup (Romanian + English or Norwegian)
  • Integration with a CRM, online booking systems or external platforms
  • Professionally written content (copywriting)

Real example: I built the DetailExpert.no platform for a car detailing company in Norway — an online booking system with zone validation, travel cost calculation and emails in Norwegian. A medium-to-high complexity project, delivered in 6 weeks.

2. Online store (e-commerce) — €1,000–4,000

Much more complex than a business website. A working online store needs product management, a shopping cart, integration with payment processors (Netopia Payments, Stripe, PayU), integration with courier companies (Fan Courier, DPD, Cargus) and, optionally, automatic invoicing.

At GabrielDev, a working online store starts from €1,000 for the version with up to 50 products, integrated online payments and automatic shipping. More complex projects are assessed separately.

What increases the price of an online store:

  • A large number of products and categories (500+)
  • Integration with stock management systems (ERP/WMS)
  • Automatic invoicing through SmartBill or Oblio
  • Product import/export via CSV or API
  • B2B features (per-customer prices, on-account orders)
  • Advanced filters, product comparison, wishlist
  • A dedicated mobile app

Real example:CivitaShop.ro — a dropshipping online store with a complete product page redesign, payment integration and mobile conversion optimization. BilDetaileren.no — an e-commerce platform for car detailing products for the Norwegian market, built with Laravel and a product variant system.

3. Web application / SaaS platform — from €5,000

SaaS platforms, internal systems for companies, client portals, applications with complex business logic, automations or integrations between several systems. These can’t be given a fixed price — every project is unique.

The price is calculated per project after a detailed technical analysis. I always give a clear estimate after a 30-minute conversation, with no commitment on your part.

Real example:AsistAI.ro — a multi-tenant SaaS platform for a smart chatbot, with Google Search Console integration, Brief Ads AI and a Stripe subscription system, built on Laravel 11 + Filament.

What’s included and what’s paid separately

Included in the website pricePaid separately
Design and developmentHosting — €20–60/year
A complete mobile versionDomain (.ro, .com) — €10–15/year
A secure contact formContent (copy, photos)
SSL installation (HTTPS)Multilingual translations
Basic technical SEOComplex third-party integrations (ERP, CRM)
Admin trainingGoogle Ads / Meta Ads campaigns

Why are there such big price differences on the market?

I have seen €60 offers for a “complete website”. Behind these prices there is usually a $20 purchased template, installed in a few hours, with no real customization, no clean code and no support afterwards.

The problem invariably shows up after launch: the website loads slowly (a PageSpeed score under 40), doesn’t appear in Google, you can’t make changes yourself and every technical problem costs you time and nerves. I have personally taken over projects like this, and every time a complete rebuild cost more than building it properly from the start would have.

Freelancer vs. web agency — an agency has high fixed costs (office, salaries, management) that end up on the invoice. An experienced freelancer delivers the same level of quality at 30–50% of an agency’s price, with the advantage that you work directly with the person building your website, not with an account manager.

How much does maintenance cost after launch?

Something many people ignore: a website is not a finished product but an ongoing service. Security updates, backups, content changes and monitoring take time every month.

At GabrielDev, maintenance packages start from €150/month and include:

  • Security and dependency updates
  • Automatic weekly backups
  • 24/7 uptime monitoring
  • Up to 2 hours of content changes per month
  • Technical support by email or WhatsApp

A website without active maintenance is like a car without servicing — it works until it doesn’t, usually at the worst possible moment.

How do you get an accurate quote?

There is no universal price. Prepare this information before you ask for a quote:

  1. What type of website do you need (business website, store, application)?
  2. How many pages or products do you expect?
  3. Which features are mandatory and which are optional?
  4. What is your desired deadline?
  5. Do you already have a domain and hosting, or do you need recommendations?

Fill in the form below and I’ll reply with a detailed estimate within 24 hours, free of charge and with no obligation.
